FAQ: VACCINATION QUESTIONS

The ORHL recently posted the following news regarding their policy on mandated Covid-19 vaccinations. While the league at this time does not mandate a double vaccination requirement, it does mandate that all ORHL clubs follow their local rules, restrictions and health policies. This would include any entry requirements imposed by the ice vendors where the ORHL and its clubs operate.

This news has certainly driven increased web traffic and awareness of our Club; however, in the spirit of openness and transparency, we do have to inform prospective players that (as it stands now) approximately 82% of the ice we have under contract for the 2021-22 Season has a double vaccination requirement for entry into their facilities'.

So while it may seem like there's choice and options, the logistical reality is that the overwhelming majority of the arenas we deal with do in fact require a double vaccination as of September 22, 2021.

ORHL Response Regarding Vaccinations

The Ontario Rep Hockey League (“ORHL”) continues to monitor the ever-changing status of COVID-19 in the Province of Ontario, with a keen focus on our goal of providing competitive hockey programming as close to our pre-pandemic operations as possible. Our players’ health and safety is not a measure we take lightly and we will continue to be diligent in our adherence to Provincial rules & regulations.

The ORHL has an active catchment area that covers many Central and Southern Ontario regions, each with its unique health measures and policies that we respect. While acknowledging that the situation is fluid and may be subject to change in the future, the ORHL at this moment does not have a league-wide mandated vaccination policy for its Member Clubs. It does however mandate that each of its clubs follow their local rules, restrictions and health policies, without exception. This would include, but is not limited to, any entry requirements imposed by arena facilities where ORHL clubs participate. We will commit to providing further updates, as the situation continues to evolve, so that our ORHL families are well-informed and can prepare for the much-anticipated upcoming start to the hockey season.
